This year, you can watch Maurice Levy deliver his annual Christmas message from behind his desk or in parody ads. Go on, hear him say, “because you’re worth it,” while wearing a wig.
The Publicis Groupe holiday message from chief executive officer, Maurice Lévy, is a tradition. It had always been a pretty dry affair – Maurice sitting behind his desk, delivering a message of hope with the mandatory mea culpa thrown in for authenticity.
Last year’s was different.
But this year’s?!
Well this year’s has ad-finesse. It recognises the struggles of YouTube ads against the Skip button (a nod to to Brad Jakeman’s tirade, perhaps?) and parodies the kinds of ads on which (let’s be frank) Publicis Groupe, like most multinational networks, relies for stable income.
And it’s even funnier than the Fred & Faris parody of Levy’s “engagement” to Omnicom’s John Wren.
Mostly, this is one company message to which you WILL pay attention.
If you click, Skip Maurice Lévy.
Because then you won’t be watching Levy deliver it from behind his desk, you’ll be watching him interrupt adverts.
You’ll also see a side of Maurice Levy that’s good for Publicis’ business.
