Did Somebody Say Menulog? The jingle that has been rocking around in everyone’s head for months has become a “song you can get down to”. That’s a quote from Snoop Dogg, and he should know; it’s his song. (Hmm, Snoop Dogg vs KKW. It’s going to be an interesting battle.)
The Menulog commercial comes from McCann London and is directed by Francois Rousselet through Riff Raff Films. It was shot on location and in Snoop Dogg’s Compound in LA and it has a story that could be yours – in the spot, Snoop Dogg has decided he’s had enough of hearing everyone’s favourite love-to-hate jingle. If it’s going to be on TV, it has to be his version.
Susan O’Brien, chief marketing officer at Just Eat (Menulog’s parent company) commented, “We know our original Did Somebody Say Menulog jingle is a bit of an opinion-divider and it led to many a conversation, as people enjoyed their favourite meals. As much as we love it, what better way to step things up a notch than to get the help of a global legend? Snoop answered our call and created a version of the song that got us all smiling. We love that he’s taken something synonymous with the Menulog brand and made it personal to him.”
The new global campaign will launch in seven markets and run from May, for a year in every territory, across TV, OOH, DOOH, social and radio.
Simon Cheng, marketing director, ANZ, stated, “Did Somebody Say Menulog was a campaign that got Australians talking about the brand in a way they hadn’t before. Love it or hate it, Did Somebody Say Menulog did its job and stuck in the minds of consumers. However, version 2.0 needed creative that aligned with how the Menulog brand has evolved and a song that would bring a bit more entertainment, enjoyment and humour to everyone.
“The unquestionable talent, originality, irreverence and mass appeal in the latest Did Somebody Say Menulog does just that. The new, genuine take on the song is unlike anything in-market and so we’ve staggered the local release to give each bit of creative for Menu-Logg the time it deserves. While Australians will have to wait to see the full version, we’re excited to be able to launch the first piece of creative, particularly at a time when Australians can use a bit of entertainment from local brands. Did Somebody Say Menulog will complement a suite of other creative in-market, which focuses on continued support for local restaurants.
