Marta Rico and Miguel García Vizcaíno are departing Sra.Rushmore, the agency they founded in July 2000 with Roberto Lara. Their departure will be effective in the coming days, following the sale of their shares to the WPP group, the agency’s majority shareholder since 2005.
“It has been an extraordinary 25-year journey alongside Eva Gutiérrez and César García, both current partners of the agency,” say Rico and Vizcaíno stated.
Eva Gutiérrez and César García, current partners at Sra. Rushmore, will continue to lead the agency- Gutiérrez as CEO, a position she has held since 2001, and Garcia in his current role as Chief Creative Officer.
Marta Rico and Miguel García Vizcaíno began their journey together in 1990, when they met while working at Tiempo BBDO. They discovered a shared understanding of advertising there, believing in ideas that move and sincere stories that connect with people. That vision led them, a decade later, to found Sra. Rushmore. Since then, they have been inseparable, both inside and outside the agency. They share an office, more than half their lives together, a family with two children, and a passion – creativity.
From its office on Madrid’s Gran Vía, Sra. Rushmore has established itself as one of the most influential agencies in the sector – thanks, the founders say, to the collaborative work of a committed, courageous, and talented team. For 20 consecutive years, it has been recognised as the most creative and attractive agency, according to Scopen’s AgencyScope study.
The agency has won more than 200 awards at national and international festivals such as Cannes Lions, D&AD, One Show, the Effectiveness Awards, and the National Creativity Awards from the Creativity Club for brands such as Vodafone, El Corte Inglés, Atlético de Madrid, ONCE, Mini, Flex, and Mahou, among others. Its international reach has also been notable, with campaigns for brands such as Coca-Cola, Aquarius, the Red Cross, and the International Olympic Committee – including some of the most award-winning campaigns in Spain.
“We had breakfast with Alan Bean, the fourth man to walk on the moon, and sat next to Steve Wozniak to listen to his advice and pass it on to the next generation. We recounted the wonderful fantasies of the crazy people of La Colifata or the fantasy coffin makers in Ghana. We talked about life and death, loyalty, generosity, unwavering faith, and love in all its forms. We went down into the sewer and touched the sky. What a way to rise and fall from the clouds,” they recall as they leave.
