Less than a week after he announced his departure from Joy, Steve Back has joined Brilliant Films – as a director.
In fact, he has already notched up a number of directing jobs already, and these commercials demonstrate his flair for visual narrative and comedy performance as well as standout concept and design direction.
He is also, unsurprisingly, an ardent supporter of the power of strong creative partnerships when executing ideas.
“The opportunity to collaborate with like-minded creatives and the challenge to take on this new direction with my career is truly exciting,” Back stated.
“I’m looking forward to building on the execution of ideas, kicking them about with my fellow comrades and pushing them forward, to help take them to the next level.”
Back is also judging the Integrated and Collaborative category at this year’s D&AD Awards.
Brilliant Films executive producer, Stephanie Ceccaldi, noted that his industry experience as a creative director is one of the driving forces behind his desire to put ideas at the forefront.
“Steve is unquestionably one of the most talented directors I have worked with and brings with him an abundance of knowledge,” she explained.
“He’s able to collaborate and communicate with creatives on another level when focusing on bringing ideas to life – and if it’s a good idea, Steve will fight for it.”
Ceccaldi also noted that as the industry continues to evolve at rapid pace there is a growing need for more unification and collaboration – making now the perfect time for Brilliant Films to embark on a new adventure with Back.
“Being able to offer agencies a unique alignment with Steve in the production side of the world, we are incredibly lucky to have him on board and look forward to extending our relationship with our clients and being in a position to offer them much more.”
Back’s signing coincides with Brilliant Films’ 10-year anniversary.
