The International ANDY Awards, the first advertising award show of the season, has announced the shortlist for its first three of seven regional competitions, Asia, Africa and Greater China. To break barriers that exist around cultural context, juries representative of the creative excellence in the area came together to select the best ideas entered into the competition.
Thailand leads the Asia shortlist with 9 finalists followed by Japan with 5. Taiwan is a clear lead in the shortlist for Greater China with 5 finalists. Hong Kong as three and China, 2. South Africa leads the Africa shortlist with 10 finalists, followed by Nigeria with 8. Leading agencies at this stage are BBDO, Dentsu, Flashbomber, and VML.
“Our goal for ANDY regionals is to ensure that more creative work is represented in the show and to get to meet more talented creative leaders globally. We aim to remove the barriers that might prevent companies from submitting, whether it’s the cost of entry or a lack of cultural context,” stated Gina Grillo, president & CEO of The International ANDY Awards. “Work that’s tested at this regional level indicates its potential to resonate on a broader stage, demonstrating that creativity knows no boundaries.”
Each jury reflects the best talent in their corner of the globe. Alice Chou, chief creative officer, Dentsu Creative Taiwan; Steve Babaeko, CEO & chief creative officer, X3M Ideas, and Rei Inamoto, founding partner, I&CO, lead the Juries.
“The ANDYs always remind us of the spirit of BRAVERY in great creativity—the courage to explore new perspectives, break free from boundaries, present unprecedented visuals, and pursue flawless execution. These are the qualities we celebrate in the works from the Greater China region,” Chou stated.
“Asia has such a diverse mix of cultures, tastes, and styles that it often doesn’t get the attention it deserves,” Inamoto commented. “With a thoughtful and critical set of eyes and voices from jurors from the region, we selected a shortlist of works from Asia that will surprise and delight the rest of the world. I believe it’ll serve as an inspiration not just for the region but the rest of the global creative community.”
The full shortlists can be viewed on andyawards.com. Those who placed will be shortlisted for the main, global competition should they choose to move their work forward into the Global competition. All entrants who participated in regionals can choose to move their work forward to the Global competition. There is no requirement to participate in regionals to submit to the Global competition. Each region will now compete for the title of Best of, including Africa, Asia, Europe, Greater China, Latin America, SWANA, and Pacific to be announced with the full winners list in May 2025.
