Enterprise, one of the UK’s largest car rental companies, wants people to know that it can handle the most demanding car rentals imaginable. So its agency, The Corner, has put actor, Gerard Butler, in some hair-raising situations that are solved by an Enterprise car.
Each of the two hero films is an action-packed drama, not typical of the genre, but wonderful for gaining attention and standing out from the crowd. In one, Butler escapes from a group of paparazzi with some parkour-style manoeuvres choreographed by an Enterprise agent as she directs him to his “getaway” car In the other, he finishes a skydive by landing in an Enterprise convertible (with the roof down) that he has ordered – in flight.
Tom Ewart, chief creative officer and founding partner at The Corner, explained, “Enterprise is the biggest vehicle rental company in the UK, and we wanted to give them a big campaign to match. So we teamed up with some top talent in director Guy Shelmerdine, stunt-coordinator Greg Powell and of course Mr Gerard Butler himself, to bring a bit of Hollywood pizzazz to car rental. I hope people enjoy watching them as much as we did making them.
To create the blockbuster-style TVCs, The Corner teamed up with stunt coordinator, Greg Powell, whose experience includes work on The Avengers, Bond and Bourne, and Smuggler director, Guy Shelmerdine.
Joe Stamp, creative director at The Corner, commented, “I rented an Enterprise van to move once, that was a mission. But we felt Gerard Butler free-falling into a convertible makes for a more entertaining mission. So we went with that.”
Tom Prendergast, creative director at The Corner, added, “When you rent a vehicle, you’re on a mission. And Enterprise is the best at completing your mission, because they have more vehicles and locations than anyone. So if they can remotely help Gerard Butler escape a gang of paps, they can get you to a meeting in Guilford.”
Jim Stoeppler, vice president of European Brand Marketing, Enterprise, noted, “We wanted to create a campaign that speaks to our ambition of being a brand that is transforming how people access and use vehicles. They illustrate how Enterprise uses the latest technologies coupled with its unique approach to customer service to make access to virtually any vehicle quick, convenient and immediate. The ‘Whatever the Mission’ series captures just how the customer is at the heart of everything we do. Our aim was to show that our business is based on the needs of our customers – whatever the vehicle, whenever they need it and however long they need it for.”
