The Stable’s first D&AD Bulletin was a hit. So we have made it a regular feature. It’s the cherry-picked content. What’s interesting, what’s insightful, what caught D&AD’s eye and what you need to know if you think you can be a superstar creative.
Here’s the September edition:
Takes Without Borders
Find out how Arsenal’s record goal-scorer, Thierry Henry, walks through time to become the central figure in the ad for Sky Sports, “that no-one else could do – that Nike or adidas couldn’t do, that the BBC or BT couldn’t do.” [Andy Fowler, creative director, Brothers and Sisters.]
Good Campaigns of the Week
D&AD stands for creative excellence. Adland work for good doesn’t stand just because it’s good any more. Everyone’s doing it. So it has to excel. The three campaigns below made D&AD stop, look and applaud. These are there case studies:
- The Ultimate Death Scene. In July this year, actor David Field was pursued until the point of exhaustion by Australian agency, The Works, shot with an explosive harpoon causing massive internal injuries, dragged violently to a ship then shot some more before taking up to an hour to die in agony. The agency killed an Australian actor to save the world’s whales.
- Save The Flavors Would you eat an endangered animal? It’s such a simple question. BBDO San Francisco turned it into a clever stunt for Seeds of Change and the world’s endangered plants.
- The Lifesaving Dot Millions of women across rural India suffer from breast cancer, fibrocystic breast disease and complications during pregnancy. In most of these cases, this is linked to iodine deficiency. By turning the bindi that Indian women wear into an iodine patch, Grey for Good began to solve the problem.
Fuel your Creativity
- Technology is not just a toy to insert into an ad to make it trendy. In the D&D film, Award Winning Creativity in Technology, top creative explore technology that made good creative ideas remarkable.
- Well crafted words have been persuading people for thousands of years. Copywriting may not be trending right now, but it will never be replaced as advertising’s most available device. The Best Writing For Advertising of 2015
- The Cyranos McCann recruited homeless men and women to create commercial fonts – which generated both funds for homeless people’s charity the Arrels Foundation and a sense of purpose and belonging for homeless people themselves. HomelessFonts
