“Stunning, aspirational, emotional glimpses of life in all its peculiarities. She has an amazing eye.” This is what Campaign said of Liz Murphy, when it named her in its 10 Female Directors You Should Know in 2017. Murphy has just joined Sweetshop for global representation.

Murphy’s passion is “to make stuff that gives people the feels”. This has been applauded in awards globally throughout her career. In fact, Murphy’s first ever commercial won her inclusion in the CFP-E/Shots Young Director Awards in Cannes in 2005. And her stop-motion film for RAC insurance won awards around the world, resulting in her being featured by Shots as a Director to Watch in 2009.
The Australian-born director moved to London in 2010. Her focus was to create beautifully shot, emotive and observational films and narrative. This won her work for brands such as Alpen, Kinder, McDonald’s and The National Trust. Her deeply moving spot, Bear for the charity, Grief Encounter, featured in the prestigious APA show in 2014. She has also been awarded by AdFest, BADC and ADC.

Pontifex and Sweetshop executive producer, Llew Griffiths, will be working with Murphy and agencies across Australia on script and creative opportunities.
