A wonderful story about roommates. It’s amusing with a dash of absurdity. Relatable with a dash of hyperbole. Warm and human. Magnificently crafted. Oh…and it’s a commercial. For an energy provider.

The 3.20 minute spot comes from The Newtons Laboratory for Protergia.

The story is built from real life. In Greece, more and more young people are choosing to live with roommates due to high rents and the overall economic situation. And according to research, most energy provider switches take place when someone is moving to a new house. These two findings became the starting point for Roommates. The Newtons Laboratory’s creativity added an uncle who’s stuck in his ways, an easygoing grand-nephew and entertaining humour.

It was directed by Argyris Papadimitropoulos and stars the famous Greek actor, Dimitris Piatas, in the role of the uncle.
