The Shiny Awards, hosted by 180 Amsterdam, drew a capacity audience to watch 18 short films, spec ads, music videos, animations and comedies
As always, about 70% of the diverse shortlist was work by directors from under-represented backgrounds. The winners were chosen and announced at the event by James Southward, 180 Amsterdam, Anna Hashmi, The Corner Shop, Karen Andre, LS Productions, Carol Cooper, shots and Martin Goodwin, Nomad.
Those winners are:
- Delivery For Mr Frogula: Vanessa Stachel wins a meeting with a creative team at 180 Amsterdam
- Cloud Safe: Apiwat Pattalarungkan wins a bespoke location deck from LS Productions
- Elevating Every Journey: Floyd: Jasper Cable-Alexander wins time with Nomad’s Martin Goodwin
- Grade A Students: Cameron Perry wins a meeting with The Corner Shop’s Anna Hasmhi [Password: gherkin]
- Highlife: Leve Kuhl wins a meeting with 180’s Head of Production, Marloes van den Burg
There was also an acknowledgement for Jo Roy’s Corpus & The Wandering, which the director had to withdraw from the Awards at the last minute.
Caroline Bottomley from Shiny stated, “…That was a lovely evening. It was great to get more recognition to up & coming directors some of them reporting that they were ‘literally crying’ about getting screened at 180 Amsterdam. Huge thanks to everyone involved…”
