Ikea and Airbnb are offering up three showroom suites in Ikea Tempe as free alternatives to a night in a hotel. The idea was created by the Monkeys and Mango.
On August 31, three sets of up to four guests each will get to spend a night of luxury (?) – at Ikea Tempe – for free (except for the $11 Airbnb booking fee)
The one night only stunt has been created by Ikea and Airbnb. All participants have to do to enter is book their ‘accommodation’ on Airbnb, explain in 25 words or fewer why they should win, and wait to see if they’re chosen.
They can choose the Rustic Charm room, the Modern Elegance room or the Inner City Living room.
Three families will then share a communal dinner and receive tips and tricks from Airbnb staff on ways to improve their homes for Airbnb stays. At the end of their stay, they will be given a partig present – the sheets and linens they used. Accompanying children will have TVs, Playstations and circus games to entertain them.
Next morning (first day of Spring) all participants will be given a “remarkable wake-up call”, the details of which are to remain a surprise until then.
Kristin Bengtsson marketing manager for IKEA Australia commented, “At IKEA we like to do things a little differently. This year we’re turning the spotlight on our bedrooms and bathrooms, where we begin and end every day, so to celebrate the launch of our new year and the 2015 catalogue.”
