Uncommon and Wagamama have launched a smoothie. It’s a combination of katsu curry sauce, apple, banana and pineapple and it’s available via click + collect menu in 20 restaurants in the UK, located in key university cities all over the UK between March 24 and April 7.
Curry sauce? Uncommon knew it would polarise opinions and that’s the point. The smoothie is the second part in Uncommon and wagamama’s campaign to get young people talking in support of YoungMinds. Following on from their kintsugi benches in support of young people’s mental health charity, YoungMinds, this time the pair hope to get young people walking and talking – in many cases, for the first time in months.

After a rollercoaster year of lockdowns, the deteriorating mental health of young people is being spoken of as the hidden pandemic. A recent YoungMinds survey found that 67% of young people with experience of mental health problems believe that the pandemic will have a long-term negative effect on their mental health.

All proceeds from the katsu smoothie will be donated to YoungMinds and the smoothie will direct customers to YoungMind’s Not All On You campaign. The campaign offers advice on how to respond to a friend when they open up about their mental health, while also looking after your own mental health too.
