Independent creative agency, Weave, has taken Four Pillars Gin into something different – Expect Different, to be precise.
The new masterband platform taps into Australians’ desire to make everyday moments feel more premium and memorable, by taking familiar occasions where Four Pillars naturally belongs and reimagining them in unexpected ways. Ordinary moments are set within a hyper-stylised world inspired by the Four Pillars brand, and transformed with a sense of quirky luxury, reflecting the role a carefully crafted gin can play in making the everyday feel more special.
The hero 15-second film reimagines the familiar routine of finishing work and unwinding with a quality drink through playful storytelling, theatrical stagecraft and hyperreal visuals. Recurring stagehands subtly transform everyday moments into extraordinary experiences, bringing the platform to life through practical filmmaking techniques including physical sets, in-camera transitions and live performance.
Dan Cookson, executive creative director at Weave, said the creative approach aimed to turn everyday occasions into something more playful and visually interesting. “At a time when our social feeds are increasingly filled with AI-generated content, we wanted to make a campaign film that was proudly real. So, we built sets, choreographed stagehands and created a series of theatrical transitions all cued within a single, unbroken camera shot. It makes the whole thing much harder to pull off, but that’s also its creative charm. You can feel the human craft in how it all comes together, which felt completely right for Four Pillars, a brand that has always cared deeply about how things are actually made.”
The decision to use traditional production methods deliberately contrasts with the growing prevalence of AI-generated creative, celebrating tactile artistry and authentic filmmaking while reinforcing the handcrafted nature of the Four Pillars brand.
The Australian campaign will run nationally across out-of-home, social and digital channels through to February 2027. The campaign’s 15-second and six-second motion assets will cover YouTube and Meta. Supporting out-of-home creative builds on the films, using stagehands and bold product imagery across portrait, ultra-wide and transit formats, including Sydney light rail wraps.
Amanda Bronesky, marketing manager, Spirits at Lion, stated, “Four Pillars has always challenged convention through flavour innovation and creativity, but until now much of our communications have centred on individual products. Expect Different gives us a long-term masterbrand platform that expresses everything Four Pillars stands for. Consumers continue to look for brands that surprise and delight them while delivering genuine quality. This platform allows us to celebrate our distinctive personality in a way that’s memorable, scalable and unmistakably Four Pillars.”
The campaign elements comprise 15-second and six-second motion assets across YouTube and Meta alongside a comprehensive national out-of-home rollout running through to February 2027.
The work further strengthens Weave’s long-standing partnership with Four Pillars Gin and establishes a flexible creative platform capable of supporting future brand activity across multiple touchpoints and product launches.
