Yes, it’s another motivational speech from Nike. But sport is good for the world and if it’s good for Nike to be the #1 voice of sport, so be it.
Nike and Wieden + Kennedy Portland have launched the third film in their campaign, You Can’t Stop Us, this one with the mantra, “nothing can stop what we can do together”, and a striking split-screen device that unites all sports and all who play sport, pro and amateur, as a source of inspiration. The film is narrated by US soccer star, Megan Rapinoe, and was created from 4,000 pieces of footage. Please note the editing credits below. The editing is flawless and must have been a monumental challenge. The new film coincides with the return of the NBA.
Featured athletes include Megan Rapinoe, LeBron James, Naomi Osaka, Eliud Kipchoge, Caster Semenya, Cristiano Ronaldo, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Serena Williams, Colin Kaepernick and Kylian Mbappé, as well as a skateboarder in full hijab and another flying the LGBTQ rainbow colours.
“Players may be back on the pitch, but we are not going back to an old normal. We need to continue to reimagine this world and make it better,” Rapinoe stated.
“We have all these people in the streets, using their voices, and those voices are being heard. I ask people to be energised by this moment and not let up. I believe it’s everybody’s responsibility to advocate for change.”
