So what do you talk about after Ciclope? Chances are the name, Peter Grasse, is mentioned. Grasse knows how to woo and win a crowd.
Undaunted by the challenge of outdoing himself, Grasse, now executive producer of Dictionary Films, talked about film craft with Sam Spiegel of Squeak E Clean Productions…
…through the creative form that ignites his soul, music.
In the talk he called, My Mutant Musical Mind, Grasse dug beneath the surface of Spiegel’s work – like his recent content collaboration with director, Spike Jonze, to get to the seed that begins it.
Grasse gave his audience the opportunity to explore Spiegel’s development as both composer, producer, musician, and all-round creative talent.
“This is exciting!” Grasse said with characteristic enthusiasm.
“I’ve been wanting to talk shop with Sam for years. Besides being one of the top producers in the industry, Sam is a major motivational force in popular culture, as well as an all-round cool dude.”
My Mutant Musical Mind was part of Ciclope’s programme of events – the only festival in the world that celebrates the standout craft behind excellent commercial content. Its audience will include the world’s top directors, producers, creatives and clients.
“Ciclope is really special,” Grasse added.
“As of late, film craft juries around the world are plagued by politics and beset with a basic lack of knowledge of the individual elements of our craft. Ciclope is a cart show steered by the best craftsman our industry has to offer. Long may it live, and to many may it educate in regards to the excellence of execution.”
My Mutant Musical Mind was held at 15:00pm on Thursday November 3 at Berlin’s Kino International Theatre as part of Ciclope Festival.
And it was just the beginning of Spiegel’s brilliant night.
