Flipkart’s humour rises again, this time to promote its Freedom Sale around India’s Independence Day. The creative cleverness comes from 22feet, part of Omnicom Advertising India, giving one of the most familiar phrases associated with India’s Independence Day, “British Raj” (the period of British Rule in India), a fun twist. The campaign is built around the phrase, but not the reign – it calls on Brit’s named Raj. The activation encourages Indians to search for these Raj-es and “loot” them, dropping Freedom Sale discount codes in the comments of their Instagram posts.
The humorous campaign film begins with witty one-liners and visual gags revisiting the historical British Raj, before revealing the twist.
The full campaign spans digital, social media, and OOH, with QR codes directing audiences to the film and encouraging them to join the hunt for discount codes as the Freedom Sale begins.
