Derry Simpson, group managing director of 303 MullenLowe in Perth, has been named jury president of Media Lotus and Effective Lotus at AdFest 2018.
Simpson’s passion for effectiveness has helped to make 303 MullenLowe Western Australia’s most awarded agency for effectiveness, with a number of Grand Prix Effies across the region.
“As someone who gets a kick out of building effective solutions and creating ideas that work, it’s an honour to be leading the media and effective jury at Adfest 2018,” she commented.
“I know the calibre of entries will be very strong and I can’t wait to see which brands and agencies are setting the bar highest in our region.”
Simpson, who has earned for herself a reputation as one of Australia’s most credentialed planners, joined 303 as head of strategy and planning in 2009, strengthening the agency’s vision to Do work that matters.
In addition to her role as group managing director of 303 MullenLowe, Simpson is also an executive board member of Awesome Arts, a not-for-profit contemporary arts company for young people, and sits on the board of MullenLowe’s FRANK About Women global think tank.
Simpson was also a finalist in the 2017 Telstra Business Women’s Awards, which celebrate the achievements of extraordinary businesswomen in Australia.
Jimmy Lam, President of AdFest, commented, “Derry belongs to a rare breed of strategists who discovers the little human truths that help build truly effective solutions. It seems to come naturally to her, so we’re very happy she has agreed to lead our Media and Effective jury.”
Earlier this month, Melvin Mangada, chief creative officer at TBWASantiago Mangada Puno and one of the most influential figures in Philippine advertising, was made jury president of Design Lotus and Print Craft Lotus, and Saharath Sawadatikom, managing director, creative and partner at CJ WORX became jury president of Direct Lotus and Promo Lotus.
Mangada led TBWASMP to win the 4As (Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of the Philippines) Agency of the Year Award five times, prompting the 4A’s Creative Guild of the Philippines to induct him as its first Hall of Fame member. He has won awards at Cannes Lions, D&AD, AWARD, Clio, One Show and AdFest.
“I am excited to be joining one of my favourite festivals to oversee two of my favourite categories,” he commented.
“Asia is famous for the quality of its design thinking and print craft, so I am expecting to be blown away by the quality of this year’s winners.”
Sawadatikom is the creative leader behind award-winning work such as The Unusual Football Field, which won Thailand its first Design Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions last year, along with two Grande Lotus Awards at AdFest.
“It is a wonderful honour to be leading the Direct and Promo jury panel at ADFEST 2018. Throughout my career, I have watched ADFEST evolve into one of the world’s most loved, professional creative shows, so I can’t wait to be inspired by new work and to reunite with old friends,” Sawadatikom stated
AdFest 2018 runs from March 12 to 24 2018 in Pattaya, Thailand.
