72 people.
72 conversations.
72 voices on modern Australia.
72 Voices is a report that explains Australia through the eyes of the people who make Australia, Australia. It reveals the mood of the nation, our biggest fears and what we’re most excited about for the future of Australia. It aims to trigger conversations about where we are and where we want to be in the future.
Chris Kay, partner and managing director of 72andSunny APAC, explained, “Being new in the country we wanted to land, listen and learn, so speaking to this breadth of pretty inspiring people hopefully helps us understand the temperature of modern Australia a little bit better. Once we started seeing the depth and awesomeness in some of the responses, we thought this was way too interesting to keep to ourselves, so in the spirit of being an open and optimistic company, we thought we should share these conversations beyond our walls.”
The report includes the perspectives of 72 cultural makers, shapers and commentators from across Australia and spanning diverse geographies, ages, ethnicities, interests and industries. Among them are:
Amrita Hepi, Bundjulung and Ngapuhi woman dancer, choreographer and activist
Caroline Overington, author and journalist
Dr. Dharmica Mistry, scientist and co-founder of Biotech company BCAL Diagnostics
DyspOra (Gabriel Akon), sonic activist and founder of independent Hip-Hop label Playback 808

Mollie Hill, director of strategy, 72andSunny, noted, “It’s been a humbling experience to talk to such a diverse group of inspiring people who are shaping and making modern Australia today. The design from globally renowned David Carson has brought the stories to life and transformed the research project into a book that we hope stimulates a conversation and help others who want to know a little bit more about modern Australia today.”
