Many Thai commercials are epically long but when they’re as entertaining as these two mad mini-sitcoms by Adapter Digital for Hanami Foods’ Snack Jack vegetable crackers, length can even be an asset. Four minutes has allowed Adapted Digital to add a lot of detail and suspense to brilliantly funny stories.
The two commercials feature people coping in the most exaggerated (read: human) fashion with complicated problems. In one, a family deals with a ticking bomb – dad calls a helpline (which is closed), mum consults YouTube and then Facebook…ultimately a child offers the solution: remove the batteries. In the other, a country deals with a UFO. Scientists and government officials fail to communicate with the aliens to learn their intentions. While they launch a singing-dancing PSA, a news station consults a psychic. A boy simply asks them.
The idea behind them is that there is a simple solution for any complicated problem once positivity is applied. The product is integrated almost flawlessly into the films and they have been viewed more than 48 million times since launch on August 18.
