Tesco has something only it can say this Christmas. It’s the supermarket chain’s 100th Christmas. To celebrate, BBH has created a heritage film – with a twist. A Tesco delivery driver takes a weird and wonderful journey through the decades, delivering Christmas food at each. He makes a special delivery to Winston Churchill at No.10 and another at “the Palace”. He visits the classic 1980s game show, Bullseye, and turns up at parties (including a rave) throughout the century.
Apparently, the brief was to show Tesco’s Christmas range, which BBH has done abundantly. The 90-second campaign film is set to the soundtrack of Sleigh Ride by The Ronettes, and was directed by Traktor, who over the last decade have won more awards than any others in the industry. It went to air during the launch of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! and ties in with Tesco’s other centenary activity this year, which has been running throughout 2019.

The full Christmas campaign includes TV, press, OOH, radio, digital, social, in-store, PR and experiential. BBH has also created a bespoke AR Lens with Snapchat, as well as a Facebook arcade game, in which customers can go behind the wheel of the Tesco delivery van themselves.
Tom Drew, creative director at BBH London, noted, “Tesco has been helping the nation deliver Christmas for 100 years. That’s pretty magical. We just needed to add a little sparkle to the story.”
