Remember when the term “digital native” described a special teenage human who could use devices?
Let’s go further back. Remember when the VHS was new, now, wow technology? OK, some of you don’t. But it’s fun to look back and smile.
And that’s what BETC Paris has done to highlight the value of the cutting-edge technology powering French pay TV service, Canal.
Each of the five tongue-in-cheek retro ads in the campaign, Canal Experience, promote a feature that was once considered remarkable. A feature that Canal has made obsolete. The ads are delightfully “of their time”. Note, too, that apart from the ‘80s and ’90s styling, they resemble many of the ads on TV today in their clunky messaging styles. (No wonder people avoid watching TVCs.)
