According to the Cochlear Implant Association of Thailand, 3 out of every 1,000 babies in Thailand are born with hearing loss*. To give them the best chance to live a normal life, they need to receive cochlear implant surgery before the age of three. Yet most miss this critical window because their families simply don’t know that hearing screening, diagnosis, cochlear implant surgery, and rehabilitation are all available free of charge from birth in Thailand.

The earlier parents know about these rights and seek treatment, the sooner children can receive the care they need and have the opportunity to grow up hearing, learning, and living without barriers. So CJ WORX and the Cochlear Implant Association of Thailand turned one of the very first things that protects a newborn, the baby blanket, into something that also protects their right to hear. The Blankets of Rights is newborn blanket that helps parents understand their child’s hearing rights from day one on top of its function of keeping babies warm and safe.

The blanket’s patterns were redesigned to communicate every step of a child’s hearing journey, from free hearing screening and diagnosis to cochlear implant surgery and post-operative rehabilitation. A QR code printed on the blanket connects parents directly to the Cochlear Implant Association of Thailand, where they can receive information and guidance about hearing care and hearing treatment.
