In October, Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, offered to make available eight fully funded scholarships to attend the diversity initiative, RARE, between November 20 and 24.
The recipients have now been announced. As part of its sponsorship of RARE, Clemenger has given eight places to industry talent who are not able to obtain sponsorship via their agencies or those that are not able to self-fund their attendance at the event. Each place is valued at $800. Clemenger is therefore helping to give RARE the diversity of attendance it should have by making it available to those who might otherwise have been under-represented.
The eight recipients come from a variety of creative backgrounds and industries across Australia and include a producer from Long Shore Drift, a designer from Buchanan Group and Australia Post.
Clemenger BBDO Melbourne chief executive officer, Nick Garrett, commented, “As an industry, we need to be doing everything we can to foster diversity in our workforce and to be driving behavioural change from within. The scholarship program has been a great way to drive that agenda, and provide the recipients with an opportunity to continue to grow and thrive in the creative industry.
“We hope that the scholarship program will provide the recipients with an experience that will help them grow and succeed in their careers. We’re incredibly happy that we’ve been able to afford these people the opportunity who might not have otherwise been able to attend.”
In addition to the eight scholarship recipients, Clemenger BBDO Melbourne is also sending two of its own people to attend the four-day masterclass. CRM strategist, Rosie McFarlane, and creative, Lauren Moran, will attend on behalf of the agency.
RARE, the four-day masterclass featuring industry leaders from around the world, aims to give creative talent from diverse backgrounds the network and knowledge they need to succeed.
