There is a classic style of US ad humour that has delighted audiences for years. London agency, Dude, has appropriated it – and nailed it. Europe train and bus ticketing app, Trainline’s, summer campaign for the Spanish market is one of the funniest and most entertaining US ad humour-style adverts yet.
What matters more is that the price promise ad is fun to watch and easily differentiated – in a cluttered market where most price promise ads are not.
It is Trainline’s first campaign developed specifically for the Spanish market.
The campaign will be broadcast online television, connected television and paid social (Instagram, Facebook and TikTok) until August 13 in various versions of the story, with 20-second, 15 seconds, 10 and 6 seconds cut-downs.
Harry Marino, creative at DUDE commented, “We had a lot of fun writing and shooting this film. When the brand message is so simple, we did not want to complicate it too much. We all know someone like Michael, who gets you into sticky situations when it comes to saving money. We wanted to bring this idea to life in an exaggerated and fun way, using mosquitoes as antagonists to create a fun and up-close story. We’re very happy with the result.”

Jo McClintock, VP brand at Trainline, added, “We are excited about the launch of our first video advertising campaign in Spain, one of the most important markets for us and one that we are firmly committed to. We are the preferred platform for more and more travellers by train and with this campaign we want to highlight how we help them not only to save but also to make the best decisions on their trips”.
