The Zumba team bonding event. The bridal shower for your cousin. The family photo. Everyone can relate to the dismay of being forced to do something they don’t want to do. Independent creative network, Dude, chose the family photo to highlight the benefit of choosing any train on the Trainline app. The campaign film is inspired by that repository of thousands of real (cringey) family photos, the infamous Awkward Family Photos blog.
Curro Piqueras-Parra, executive creative director, DUDE London, stated, “Classmates, neighbours, or family, sometimes life doesn’t give us much choice. What we’ve got is what we’ve got. Fortunately, there’s the app Trainline. To launch this idea we created Emma’s family, a film we hope feels relatable to all of us.”
The commercial’s humour is a wonderful bonus. The 30-second spot leads a campaign running across TV, OOH and digital in France.
Trainline is the only app that lists all available trains on specific routes, meaning that where there is a choice of more than one train operator, consumers can save money by choosing the most convenient ticket for them.
Alessia Coletta, senior brand manager, Trainline, stated, “Now French people have the choice to choose a different train operator when travelling on the Paris – Lyon route, and we are thrilled to enable this in an easy and simple way through our APP and website. Our ambition is to become the destination where travellers can compare all the trains and book the most convenient solution according to their needs!”
The campaign will run until August 31.
