It’s been almost a decade since Peperami’s anarchistic Animal last graced TV screens. He’s back, reintroduced by Fearless Union in its first work for the brand since the agency’s launch in December 2023. Research helped to suggest the idea, showing that he still holds a place in UK culture. He is still embedded in the memories of 81% of UK adults.
The Animal also gave Fearless Union licence to create one of the madcap ideas that the snack market thrives on. Animal lives inside the mind of a man struggling with the relentless boredom of a virtual meeting. Animal keenly senses the man’s longing to escape the monotony of meetings and his craving for a snack.
Animal’s return to UK TV screens updates his purpose. He reminds people in a busy, busy world to break free from the monotony and indulge in those smaller moments of pleasure.
The campaign also highlights Peperami’s range of snacks, including Chicken Bites and Pizza Buns.
Mark Campion at Fearless Union, stated, “It’s been a privilege to bring one of adland’s most iconic characters back to our TV screens. The Animal is such a nostalgic force that staying faithful to what makes him great, whilst also moving him along has been a real journey. We had some oversized Doc Martins to fill – but the work displays our dedication to staying true to an unforgettable brand, while finding a way to speak to a contemporary British audience.”
Emily Prince at Peperami, added, “The campaign marks a bold step forward for Peperami, building on the brand’s heritage whilst reaffirming our commitment to providing delicious and satisfying snacks for today’s busy adults. With Fearless Union’s creative vision and expertise, we’re confident that ‘Animal’ will captivate audiences once again, reminding them that snacking should be fun and flavourful.”
