The most unique, and captivating, football broadcast promo has just gone to air in the US. Yes, there are snippets of the expected on the field action but Fox Sports’ campaign, It All Goes Down at Noon, for the college football season broadcast, Big Noon Saturday, features an obsessed fan, his crazed commentary, and the wacky lair in Michigan’s Jumbotron from which he watches games. The passionate fan, aka Emmy award-winning actor John Turturro, makes the intense energy of college football contagious in a whole new way.
The campaign was written and developed by Gary Van Dzura, creative director at Mullen Lowe and longtime FOX Sports collaborator, with director, Brian Billow and cinematographer, Robert Elswit – in collaboration with FOX Sports Marketing.
The campaign’s first video appeared during Fox College Football Friday’s matchup between Kansas State and Arizona on September 12. In subsequent social media videos and TVCs throughout the college football season, Turturro will take himself around the stadium, providing commentary on the sport and season, stalking announcer Gus Johnson and making mischief. The TVCs will air during other Fox Sports properties like Fox NFL, Fox MLB, MLB Postseason, and MLB World Series.
“At FOX Sports, BIG NOON SATURDAY has always embraced the fun, larger-than-life energy of college football, and John Turturro brings incredible depth to this fanatical character showcasing what makes college football fandom so special,” said Bill Battin, SVP of On-Air Promotions, FOX Sports, in the campaign blog. “This campaign represents everything we want FOX Sports to stand for – bold, authentic storytelling that connects fans, and combined with our world-class creative team, we’re delivering something that will resonate with audiences nationwide.”

“As a passionate sports fan who suffers the slings and arrows of my favourite sports teams, I enjoyed partnering with FOX Sports,” said Turturro. “We’ve all been that person — riding the highs and lows, hanging on every play. Any sports fan has felt that.”
