Landor Sydney has amped up its creativity, adding creatives, Tom Carey and Matty Johnson, as creative directors. Carey will lead the brand team at Landor and Johnson, the consumer team. They will both work under the helm of executive creative director, Giles Day.
“We’ve seen a significant shift in what our clients need from a branding agency,” explained managing director, Dominic Walsh. “These appointments signify a substantial change for Landor Australia by placing innovation and award-winning creativity at the heart of the business.”
Day, founder of innovation agency, North+South became ECD when his agency was acquired by Landor in 2015. He has helped to put innovation at the heart of Landor and plans to implement design thinking throughout the organisation, creating teams with diverse creative backgrounds spanning innovation, brand and consumer.
Carey is an awarded designer, who was a key part of the team that won 3 Cannes Lions for the rebrand of the Sydney Opera House. He has worked with brands such as Telstra, BBC and Universal Music
Johnson has working in agencies such as Re, Hoyne, Interbrand and Co Partnership and with agencies such as Moon, Frost* and Designworks as a freelancer, across UK, Singapore and Australia. He has designed for Diageo, Unilever and Beam Suntory and won more than 30 industry awards in the process, including a First Place from The Dieline, Gold from Graphis and a Pinnacle from AGDA.
“I’m delighted to have tricked first Tom, then Matty into joining the team. We have the ambitious creative leadership we need to get the most out of our young and talented team and create brilliant work for our clients,” said Day.
