L&C co-founders, Gian Carlo Lanfranco and Rolando Cordova, have repurchased Serviceplan Group’s minority stake in the agency, returning L&C to full founder ownership. The transaction is the beginning of L&C’s next chapter as a fully independent creative agency and gives its founders direct control over the company’s strategy, investments and growth. Financial terms are not disclosed.
Serviceplan Group acquired a minority stake in L&C in June 2023. The partnership connected L&C with Serviceplan Group’s global network, talent and integrated capabilities during a formative period in the agency’s growth. During that time, they were named Independent Network of the Year at the 2025 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
“We’ve always thought of L&C as the creative equivalent of a great street-food stand. It’s not about having the biggest building behind you. It’s about making something so good that people keep coming back for it – and remembering the experience long after they’ve left. That’s the kind of agency we’ve spent the last four and a half years building,” stated Gian Carlo Lanfranco, co-founder and chief creative officer of L&C. “We’re grateful to Serviceplan Group for being part of that journey and for supporting our growth over the last three years. Now, buying back equity brings us to being fully independent again. We’re ready to keep doing what we love most: creating bold ideas with the optimism and entrepreneurial spirit that got us here.”
L&C, founded in New York in 2019 by Peruvian immigrants Lanfranco and Cordova, established quickly itself as one of the industry’s most recognised independent agencies. Its early honours included Ad Age’s A-List Newcomer Agency of the Year, Best Independent Agency Worldwide at The One Show and a Cannes Lions Grand Prix for Creative Business Transformation.
In the past year alone, L&C has welcomed leading brands including Turo, Visible by Verizon, Navan, EOS, SKYN, and Tiffany & Co. The agency also tripled its revenue and earned some of the industry’s highest applause, including Boutique Agency of the Year at the 2026 ADC Awards, a Fast Company World Changing Ideas Award, D&AD Yellow and Wood Pencils, and the Grand Clio Health – confirming L&C among the world’s most awarded independent creative agencies.
“Independence has always shaped how we think and create,” stated Rolando Cordova, co-founder and chief creative officer of L&C. “It’s kept us close to the work and our clients. This next chapter gives us the flexibility to make decisions around each opportunity and build the right team and partnerships for every client. We have a clear sense of the agency we want L&C to become, and we are excited to build it.”
The transaction was reached through constructive discussions between L&C and Serviceplan Group, with both parties agreeing that full founder ownership was the right structure for L&C’s next stage. As an independent agency, L&C will focus its next phase of growth on strengthening its position in the US through strategic new business hires, while expanding its footprint across Latin America with the opening of new offices to better serve regional and global clients.
