Flipkart’s Big Bang sale advertising is entertaining, fun and brilliantly inventive. A far cry from the traditional sale advertising that just shouts price. Its Diwali Deals is no exception.
Leo India hid Flipkart’s Diwali deals. In a village called Diwali in Punjab, inviting people to explore the village to find them and making that as much fun as shopping for them.
The campaign leads with a humorous film, featuring the quirky residents of Diwali Gaon, that introduced audiences to the village and the adventure that awaits them.
The fun then continues at diwalidedeals.com, where Indians can explore Diwali Village through a Google Street View-style digital experience. By navigating its streets and corners, they can spot quirky deal posters featuring playful Punjabi wordplay, capture them to unlock special offers, and head to Flipkart to shop. The microsite turns the village into a treasure hunt, giving consumers an active role in discovering the sale, that runs from October 28 to November 8.
Sachin Kamble, chief creative officer, Leo India, stated, “We wanted to do more than announce a sale. We wanted to give people a fun reason to discover it. Finding a real village named Diwali and hiding deals across its streets gave us a simple idea with plenty of room for humour, surprise and participation. The film brings the village to life, while the digital experience lets people step into it and find the deals for themselves.”
