In November last year, with an idea by McCann London, Bromley FC recruited a passionate fan of Xbox Football Manager to become a real-life tactician for Bromley FC. The Everyday Tactician was given the opportunity to go from the gaming chair to the real world and put their skills from the game to use in a full-time role for the Club. The role involved shadowing and learning from all the coaching staff, including 1st team manager, Andy Woodman, to understand the ins and outs of all the tactical decision-making that goes into preparing a football team for success.
Meanwhile, McCann made episode one of a documentary series about their experience. The Everyday Tactician is the first club promotion since Bromley FC was created 132 years ago.
How did The Everyday tactician go at his job? In the 2023/2024 season Bromley FC achieved its highest ever league position, highest ever points tally, fewest defeats in the league and fewest league goals conceded since Bromley’s promotion to the fifth tier in 2015
Last weekend Bromley FC was promoted to the English Football League for the first time in its 132-year-history, adding a huge moment to the campaign story.
Episode two of the documentary has gone live.
Episode 3 will launch in June and will cover the match and promotion to the Football League.
