Basketball is alive and beginning to thrive in Australia. Now We Collide and Melbourne digital artist, Andrew Archer, are helping ESPN to encourage its flourishing popularity with a striking promotion that brings to life, Archer’s book, Edo-Ball The Art Of Basketball.
Now We collide has created a vibrant short film and an interview with Archer, both of which will be integrated as part of ESPN’s Ball or Nothin 30 minute pregame show leading into Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
The book is a series of 32 artworks inspired by basketball, Japan, NBA and culture. Each artwork is created from scratch and has a unique story behind it, creating a mythical deity for each key player, and the rather beautiful basketball art is presented as museum quality prints on archival paper. The book is the culmination of a series that Archer began in 2013 with two personal artworks, The Rock & The Ghost. Its first season was very popular with basketball fans, with its blending of two millennial trends, Japanese culture and the sport of basketball. The book now covers three seasons and expanded stories.
Now We Collide’s work is a first creative initiative for ESPN.
Ryan Bodger, director of Now We Collide commented, “The resurgence of basketball and the massive growth of NBA fans in Australia over recent years provides the perfect springboard for us to take this style of content to audiences in Australia and overseas.”
This launch follows a successful above the line brand and awareness campaign produced by Now We Collide for ESPN for Australia and New Zealand markets.
