Whether Diesel lost 14,000 followers following the release of its pride collection or because of Instagram’s algorithm changes, no one will ever know.
But the brand’s agency, Publicis Italy, has turned the former supposition into a campaign that is probably winning, at the very least, enough new fans to compensate.
In its Instagram account, Diesel posted the message, “We’ve taken pride in our beliefs for 40+ years & we believe in #pride. For those who don’t, including the 14.000 followers who’ve left us in the last week…. bye bye!
To those who share our beliefs and values, let’s celebrate the fact that #loveislove. Always. So far, that post – timed to coincide with London Pride – has received 47, 725 Likes.
By the way, Diesel still has 2.1m Instagram followers, so 14,000 is a small dent in its network.
