Diesel likes to break the rules. And this time it’s breaking the rule, influencers are awesome. Influencers may have hundreds of thousands of followers and get millions of Likes, but Diesel wants its followers to know that an Instagrammable life is not so great.
In fact, it’s ripe fruit for mockery.
The SS19 Diesel campaign by Publicis Italy compares influencers to its own crew, followers. Be a follower, the campaign states. Followers live real lives – in Diesel denim, of course.
Jennifer Grace, @thenativefox; Kristen Crawley, @kristennoelcrawley; the twins, @amixxamiaya and @ayaxxamiaya; Elias Riadi, @eliasriadi; and Bloody Osiris, @bloodyosiris have ‘fessed up to the pitfalls of their lives for the campaign and surrendered themselves to some self-deprecating humour.
The video content was directed by Ali Ali and Ahmed Tahoun of Good People Films. A selection of key visuals by Toiletpaper’s Pierpaolo Ferrari and Maurizio Cattelan, support them and bring the brand’s Diesel’s watches and eyewear into the campaign.
