The importance of Christmas is that it reminds people to come together. But despite Hollywood’s best attempts to keep the tradition alive and well, its importance is getting lost.
As Nokia pointed out this year, one reason is the world’s obsession with mobile phones.
But there’s another reason, one that has been escalating for years. Christmas is becoming more and more consumeristic – the latest video games, the season’s fleeting fads, the ‘must-have’ lists…
“Once we forget about such traditions, what’s left of Christmas?” French creative agency Rosapark asks.
The mission of its client – railway company, Thalys – is to reunite people. This year, Thalys wants to bring that spirit back into the holidays.
So it is asking, What if the best present was you? – with a memorable online film about a man returning home for the holidays. A man who is a metaphor.
