Repco is sponsoring the Bathurst 1000 for the fifth year in a row, so Thinkerbell has upped the ante on its annual Bringin’ the Bathurst, by taking over the mountain for Repco’s own high octane version of a Bathurst guided tour Bathurst Bus Tour. To your left, you’ll see Mt Panorama. To your right, you’ll see remnants of Dick Johnson’s ‘83 XE Falcon. And if you’re lucky you may notice the smell of cooked snags, burnt rubber and decades of racing history.
Forget the Hollywood Hills. This is Mt Panorama. Fans and diehards alike are getting their own brush with celebs and racing history, from reuniting famous rivals Ambrose and Murphy to recreations of totalled cars, with the integrated work full of secrets and nuggets for thirsty Bathurst fans to dive right into.
To launch the full-on bus tour, a high-octane film shows fans and unwitting tourists on a tour of the track, with a few famous faces along for the ride.
Mitch Wiley, executive general manager of marketing at Repco commented, “The Bathurst 1000 has such an enormous legacy and we wanted to celebrate it in a way that was both high octane, and full of nuggets for the fans. Our Bathurst work takes it to the limit every year and this time we’re proud to say we’ve left it all on the track.”
Ben Couzens, executive creative tinker at Thinkerbell added,“Bathurst is iconic for a reason. Hundreds of reasons in fact. And Bathurst Bus Tours is our way to pay homage to those iconic moments of Australian racing folklore, all while keeping our foot to the floor where it should be.”
Repco will be Bringin’ the Bathurst running up to and throughout The Great Race in October, at the track, on TV, OOH, digital, print and social, alongside plenty of surprises and treats for fans along the journey. Keep your eyes peeled for the bus around the event (you’ll definitely hear it coming) and in the broadcast. And if you do get to experience it for yourself, remember to buckle up, hold on and always thank the driver.
