Directing duo, Truman & Cooper, have a left of centre story behind them. Considering the originality of their work, that’s perfectly apt.

Truman & Cooper is a directing duo consisting of neither a Truman nor a Cooper. They’re Anthony Jorge & Jonathan Cohen.

They graduated in architecture and graphic design from the ENSBA. Cooper, who had made his first films at the age of 8 wanted to become a filmmaker. Truman wanted to be a rockstar.
Instead they made experimental films together exploring what they could add to the genres of surrealism and absurdism.

Then Truman decided to make a solo music album…Cooper decided to put images on it. And they won their first award – the Great prize for The King or The Bird at the Protoclip International Festival in 2012.

Everything changed then. The duo began exploring film in earnest. They worked on telling stories superbly and developing fascinating characters…
They immerse themselves in the casting process, make sure they leave nothing to chance…
And they created a point of difference for themselves – a world of fiction where the cinematography is always striking and emotions raw and sensual.

In 2014, their music video Hope by Kidwise made the industry want to know their name. It was chosen as the Vimeo Staff Pick in February 2014 and Truman & Cooper were designated by Promonews as directors to watch. It won the International Audience Prize at Brazil Music Video Festival. Won the Saatchi & Saatchi new directors showcase in June.

A punchy cinematography along with raw and sensual emotions is at the core of their universe. That’s what they did, in 2014, in an utterly riveting way with the music video “Hope” by Kidwise that was widely acclaimed in the industry, it was chosen as the Vimeo Staff Pick in February 2014 and, Truman & Cooper designated by Promonews as directors to watch. They also won the Saatchi & Saatchi new directors showcase in June. Their last video “Alternate World” for Son Lux illustrates an amazing storyline that captures pure emotions and hazy reality. Once again they have sublimed what they were given. Their significant talents and uprising won them a profile on Shots. It’s just the beginning !
