What happens when a wildly creative team with a flair for games decides to create a project like no another for Clash Royale’s new Hero mechanic, a group of powerful, unique units (like Hero Knight, Hero Musketeer) with special, activatable abilities.
Uncommon Creative Studio Stockholm brought in seven production companies, each with their own director, to create a nine-minute multi-style short film –a never-ending fight scene. Each production partner worked independently, creating one scene in their own distinct style – from heavy-metal stop-motion and ‘80s dark fantasy to ’90s toy-commercial energy and a fantasy showdown that culminates in a food fight. The production companies, Psyop, Riff Raff, Blinkink, Squeeze, Business/Club, Gizmo, Filmic Art, were given only character lists, starting points and transitions and worked without knowing what the others were making.
Here is the result:
“This is a celebration of craft. No AI has been used, just creative minds collaborating under one very simple premise,” stated Max Hultberg, executive creative director at Uncommon Stockholm. “We wanted to create something the community would love, but also something that could introduce new players to Clash Royale.”
