Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo isn’t just embedding brands in culture it is cultivating culture with a series of events called The WEEKEND. The fourth edition, VHS Club, will be held on June 12. The WEEKEND is built around the idea of moments when creativity and free thinking emerge. It’s a mindset – the feeling of becoming immersed in something you love, discovering a new perspective, meeting like-minded people, or stumbling across an unexpected source of inspiration. It’s about stepping outside of routine and reconnecting with curiosity.
The WEEKEND shines a light on the people, objects, cultures, and communities that spark that mindset. Through exhibitions, music, conversations, and an original newspaper produced for attendees, it aims to create experiences that inspire new ideas and creative thinking. Each edition focuses on a different cultural theme while creating opportunities for people to discover new ideas, new communities, and new perspectives. Previous editions have explored themes ranging from vintage watches to local creative communities, bringing together a diverse audience of creatives, collectors, and culture enthusiasts.
For the fourth edition, Wieden+Kennedy is its attention to VHS. In recent years, VHS tapes have been rediscovered not only as a format for watching films, but also as cultural artifacts that capture the design, aesthetics, and atmosphere of a particular era. Their distinctive packaging and artwork have earned renewed appreciation among collectors, designers, and younger generations encountering them for the first time. For some, VHS evokes nostalgia. For others, it feels entirely new.
VHS CLUB will feature more than 300 VHS tapes available for display and purchase, celebrating the unique visual culture and physical presence of analogue media in an increasingly digital world. The tapes, presented at VHS Club’s two-day exhibition and sale, will include beloved classics such as Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting, Lost in Translation, AKIRA, and Back to the Future, in an event that celebrates the enduring appeal of physical media.
As streaming has transformed how audiences access film and video, many of the rituals that once surrounded movie culture browsing shelves, discovering cover art, renting tapes, and sharing recommendations among friends have gradually disappeared. VHS CLUB revisits these experiences through a carefully curated collection of VHS titles that have transcended generations and borders.

Visitors will receive an exclusive newspaper featuring a special interview with Berlin artist, tattoo artist, and graffiti writer, Lugosis.
Under the theme, My Life Is A Weekend, Lugosis reflects on creativity, travel, graffiti culture, personal identity, and the films and animations that continue to shape his visual language. The interview also explores his creative philosophy, daily practice, experiences creating work in abandoned industrial spaces, and the ambitions that continue to drive his artistic journey.
