Woolworths has begun a formal pitch for a new lead creative agency accounts in Australia and New Zealand.
M+C Saatchi is the current incumbent, having held the business since 2017 and will not be re-pitching. Woolworths will continue working with existing agency partners during the review period. TBWA\ retains responsibility for the Everyday Rewards account.
Woolworths established its multi-agency unit, Greenhouse, six years ago with M+C Saatchi as a founding partner, a collective of partner agencies and Woolworths’ internal creative, design, experience, and production capabilities.
The review is not good news for M&C Saatchi, with CommBank and Australian Retirement Trust also going to pitch. Australia was a major contributor in M+C Saatchi’s sharp fall in net revenue (7.3%) and operating profit (26.1%) globally in the year to December. Australian revenue was down 26.1
The demanding account moved from Droga5 after just two years to Leo Burnett in 2014, which held it for three years before M&C Saatchi took over.
