Epica, which began in 1987, has been transforming itself since Maydream (owner of AdForum) acquired it two years ago. It has been rebranded with a new logo and website design by S[panish design agency, Vasava, in Barcelona.
It has a new positioning, “A different angle on creativity.”
“Epica is changing,” said Maydream chief executive officer, Philippe Paget. “The awards have been respected for many years, but it was time to shake them up a little. This new brand identity reflects our unique positioning more accurately. We also wanted to remind people that this is the only prize that allows journalists to celebrate advertising – the fuel of the free press.”
Now the only global creative awards judged by the marketing and communications trade press has opened its doors for entries. And for the first time, it is offering an early bird discount – of 50% (€100), for agencies that get their entries in before September 18, midnight Paris time. All entrants receive a copy of the annual Epica Book, a 400 page showcase of creativity.
There are also seven new categories: Luxury & Premium Brands; Creative Technology; Experiential & Shopper Marketing; Copywriting & Storytelling; Best Use of Music; Title & Credit Sequences.
…and a one-off category devoted to World Cup advertising.
The jury will meet in Amsterdam from November 17-19. The prize giving ceremony will be held on November 20. This year’s jury president is Teressa Iezzi, editor of Fast Company’s Co.Create.
