Apple’s Behind the Mac has become a reality show series in its newest editions. The two latest videos take viewers through 24 hours in the working lives of music artist, James Blake, and photographer, Tyler Mitchell, shot be remote cameras installed in the creators’ homes.
The Blake video allows viewers to watch a track being created and recorded across a 24-hour period – using Apple products, of course. Blake creates the melody at the piano before looping and pitching it in Logic Pro X, and adds layers of instruments and vocals on a MacBook Pro.
Tyler Mitchell, the first black photographer to shoot a US cover (photographing Beyonce), is seen preparing for a new portrait series. He makes notes on a MacBook, which he also uses for selecting final images from a shoot and editing them in Photoshop.
Behind the Mac has been running since 2018. The 2020 series has so far featured Grammy-nominated music producer, Warren “Oak” Felder, and the director of the Japanese anime film, Your Name, Makoto Shinkai.
