BWM Dentsu has created the ultimate no effort, no cost, charity initiative for SurfAid. All you need to do is relax or fall asleep listening to the relaxing surf sounds of album, Surfify, on Spotify.
Each time a track from the album is played, Spotify will donate a small royalty fee to the charity, SurfAid. Playing the album costs the listener nothing.
“The more plays, the more donations to SurfAid. In fact, play the album on repeat overnight, and you’ll be literally donating in your sleep. Even if you’re unable to listen, play it on mute and you’re still raising money,” the agency noted.
BW Dentsu has also created a 90 second film that explains SurfAid the charity, and how Surfify works, to encourage ‘donors’ and get them to share the idea.
BWM Dentsu chief strategy officer and managing director Sydney, Jamie Mackay, commented, “SurfAid is an amazing charity and we wanted to create a fundraising tool that could be easily used by an audience outside of just the surfing community, and we think we’ve hit the nail on the head with Surfify. The tracks on the Surfify album are perfect for meditation, for parents who want to sooth their babies, or for anyone who wants to chill out. What we really want is for people to put Surfify on repeat overnight; that way they’ll be lulled to sleep by to the soothing sounds of the surf and SurfAid will get the royalties. It’s a win-win.”
What does SurfAid do? The launch of the fifteen year old charity was spurred by a surfing trip in Indonesia by co-founder, Dr Dave Jenkins. He observed that the beauty of Indonesia’s beaches veiled an ugly truth about the conditions of life in its isolated regions.
Places where usually only surfers visit.
The organisation has been working to improve health and resources in Indonesia’s isolated regions ever since. The charity works with communities and local government to prevent mother and child suffering and death, in particular. Saving lives in these remote places can be as simple as providing mosquito nets, clean water and improving nutrition.
There’s extra info about Surfify on the website. Tp find the playlist, search Surfify on Spotify.
