PepsiCo Doritos has decided its 29 semi-finalists in this year’s Crash the Super Bowl contest.
Three Australians entries are among them:
Meditasting by Luke Seer Brown, Australia
Gone Ape by Hugh Fleming, Australia
Doritos Manchild by Armand de Saint-Salvy
Up for grabs is the chance for two winners to see their ads on air in front of a global television audience during the Super Bowl XLIX broadcast. 111.5 million people watched this year’s Super Bowl.
The ad that wins the most fan votes will earn its creator a guaranteed US$1 million and the chance to work as a contractor for 1 year onsite at Universal Pictures in Hollywood. Doritos will choose its own winner, with a prize of $US50,000 on offer.
Nearly 4,900 ads were submitted from 29 countries around the world. 7 countries are represented in the semi-finals. As you might expect, the greatest number are from the US (18). Canada has 4 semi-finalists. The UK, Egypt and Sweden have 1 each.
This year, 10 will make it through to the finals (double the size of last year’s finalist list) in January. Then fans will get to vote.
