Making adhesive tape funny is no mean feat. Creating a fan following for a campaign for adhesive tape is even more remarkable.
Comedy supremo director, Greg Bray, and TBWA Germany created Florida Park Ranger, Dale “Danger” Darwin, and his zany Bear Grylls-style antics in January last year for Henkel’s Crocodile Power Adhesive Tape, when the intrepid survivalist conquered a leaky hose.
TBWA’s mad imagination and Bray’s flair for comedy created a very successful campaign and a character loved nationally. So the fun goes on. This year, they are making glue funny. “This year, Darwin continues his adrenaline-packed, high octane adventures when his early morning routine is rudely interrupted by a disorderly drone. Leaping off, with one of his signature, yet unnecessary, forward rolls, Darwin hunts down the wild beast and sets about repairing its broken little soul,” Bray explained.
Next comes an encounter with a fitful fan. “When a blade comes loose on this jungle workshop fan, Darwin is quick to act. While he’s a master in a sticky situation and can wrestle a crocodile in his sleep or even highjack the head off of a totem pole, his Dad jokes amuse no one,” Bray stated.
“Long live Dale,” Bray adds. Long live Dale indeed.
