Director, Greg Bray, has a flair for comedy. He has recently made fun of masculinity – and these days, that’s not easy to do without upsetting people. Nor is making advertising to promote a male depilatory cream. So let’s give him the applause he deserves for his work with BETC Paris and Veet.
BETC Paris & Greg Bray: Veet has fun upending the bragging he-man stereotype
Except that now he has bettered that. He has made an adhesive tape funny. He and TBWA Germany have created a bloke whose repair of a leaking hose takes on the drama of a Bear Grylls adventure. But really, really funny. The kind of funny you remember for a long time because you’ve been there and it was just as dramatic in your head.
This is Bray’s hose hero:
“Known for his passion, his wide-eyed excitement and his adrenalin-charged recounts of the dangerous adventures he’s had, Dale “Danger” Darwin might just be The Most Interesting Park Ranger ever.”
“A healthy mix of ‘80s TV action hero, modern-day survivalist, and home handyman, Dale Darwin hails from the everglades of Florida. He loves adventure, the wild, and the unpredictable – as well as high kicks & headlocks.
“Whether alone in the wild, or even just in some bloke’s backyard, nothing makes him feel more alive than testing his boundaries. When he’s face-to-face with the elements and up against the toughest, most gruelling situations, Dale Darwin knows there’s a solution for every problem. Even if it’s just tape, or a tube a of glue – he’s got it sorted.”

The spot was produced by Saltwater Films.
Here’s another Greg Bray original, and when I write original, I mean wildly left-of-centre and an attention magnet:
