There have been hundreds of claims to have seen Bigfoot but still no proof that he exists.
Hard Mountain Dew is offering US$1 million for verified proof of Bigfoot – perhaps borrowing the idea from Columbia Sportswear’s Expedition Impossible that made a remarkable showing at this year’s advertising awards.
The Bigfoot Bounty requires you to be have to be over 21, of course. This is alcohol advertising in the US. Entries may be submitted until November 30 – with proof in at least four of seven specified categories.
The campaign enlisted the help of Bryce Johnson, a bigfoot research who has starred in and produced a successful docuseries, Expedition Bigfoot, about a team of Sasquatch specialists exploring the wilderness to prove Bigfoot’s existence. He helped to establish those seven competition criteria:
- Bigfoot Paw print: A footprint measuring 37-38.5 inches long, found pressed 6 inches into solid gravel.
- Bigfoot Handprint: A clearly documented 13-inch handprint showing distinct shape, proportions, and weird characteristics qualifying for further examination.
- Thermal Imaging Capture: Night vision footage that captures a 7-9-foot-tall heat signature moving at 20-25 mph through dense forest.
- Hair Follicle Sample: A tuft of dark brown, black or reddish-brown hair stuck to a branch 5-10 feet off the ground that contains “unknown DNA markers.”
- Audio Recording: High-frequency vocalizations, knocks, calls or other unexplained sounds consistent with Bigfoot activity.
- Environmental Remnants: Debris and/or environmental remnants with no visible machinery or storm damage nearby.
- Bigfoot Cameo: A picture that catches Bigfoot photobombing you.

100 participants who fail to find Bigfoot will receive cash equivalent to a free pack of Hard Mountain Dew for their efforts.
