…or looking at it another way, adland Russia’s surging creativity.
Ikea has been making space saving ads for a while now. But Russia’s trump them all. Russian agency, Instinct, has found a very cool way to use the hot internet social site as an Ikea catalogue – and underscore Ikea’s selling proposition at the same time.
IKEA’s PS 2014 collection was kinda wild – a grab bag of quirky accessories designed to be cheap and consume minimal floor space.
There’s a ladder-like shelving unit with hooks at the top for tiny kitchens, that cupboard you bought as a ‘study’ or hallways. There’s a very! narrow bench perhaps for dropping keys, sunnies and wallet onto as you enter. And there’s a lamp that explodes into a Death Star-esque orb…
In keeping with the idea of space saving (and wild) ideas, Russian agency, Instinct, has built an entire Ikea PS2014 site inside Instagram.
First, you set up a user account, ikea_ps_2014. Then, when you look at the account on your phone via Instagram, the grid view is a website consisting of 12 images. The account acts as an interactive cataloguse, divided into Benches, Tables, Storage, Light, Textiles, and Ideas. When you click on a category image, you arrive at a photo showing the items in that category, each tagged, so you can go to that item’s individual Instagram account.
