Harold Einstein doesn’t think like you and me. That makes him a great Curious asset.
Open Harold Einstein’s website, aka, “The Collected Works of Director Harold Einstein,” and you’ll find a black screen with just four elements scattered sparsely across it. In the top right hand corner are some Asian letters – words, presumably. Perhaps they even make sense. In the bottom left hand corner is a tiny telephone. Click on it for Einstein’s contact details. Click the word, Commercials, to find a long list of links to Einstein’s work. The only other word is, Underwear. I have no doubt that everyone clicks on that first. I did.
This is what’s behind it.
Einstein is a curious director, where curious can be written with a big or a little C. Curious Film is now representing him in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore through a deal with Dummy, the production company Einstein opened at the start of this year with his longtime executive producer, Eric Liney.
“Beyond the comic charm of Harold’s work, I’m inspired by his process,” Peter Grasse, executive producer at Curious in Sydney, stated.
Einstein likes to think of the commercials he directs as short films. That shows in his work.
It also makes his commercials score highly for both “engaging” and “entertaining”. That makes him rather useful. Which explains why the long list of links to Einstein’s work behind Commercials contain repeat ads for so many clients.
