You’d expect an ad for an online poker room to be all about winning. About money! But then that would shove it into an already crowded box with online gambling sites and lotteries.
Paris agency, Romance, seems to have a more original creative ingenuity. It’s the agency that was brave enough to follow inglorious fruits and vegies with glorious stories for Intermarché.

And now it has created a strikingly different campaign for PokerStars after winning the account globally. The campaign is part of the brand’s confidence-building platform, You are already a great poker player.
It’s a humorous campaign about poker faces.
Of course, the reward in the ad is winning. But in this case, it’s the climax of a story that already has you in its grasp.
“Lots of creative territories have already been explored in the market for online poker, and it’s a tremendous opportunity to be in a position to renew the genre, especially with a brand as powerful as this,” state Alexandre Hervé, co-founder and executive creative director of Romance.
Poker Face will air in 10 countries including the US and UK, and will be followed by another film in September, both directed by Rudi Rosenberg with production company, Insurrection.
Romance’s win comes after two years of successful collaboration with Betclic, a sports betting website, and is its first global account.
“We now know how to be a central agency on an international scale. After Audi Sport and Wargaming, this is a new and very exciting step for our development,” added Christophe Lichtenstein, co-founder and chief executive officer of Romance.
